There is the obvious diamond pattern around the perimeter
and there is a less
obvious pattern within the ebony in the
form of nesting petals.

New
York City
This was inspired by the later works of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian.
He used
large areas of color broken up with narrow lines of contrasting
color. Many of these paintings were given titles based on New York
landmarks
hence the title of this piece. From a distance this could be a
skyscraper
squeezed into a bottle shape.

Euclid's
Dream
Euclid, the father of geometry, may have had dreams along
these lines. The shape of the vessel is a paraboloid intersecting
a plane (the top surface) that is perpendicular to it's axis.
